The Delves Kitchen Café
A text-led project page example for a smaller refurbishment scheme, using a concise introduction, selected project details and a compact gallery rather than a large full-screen photographic hero.
Project Overview
Client: Thorne and Moorends Town Council
JHA Architecture were appointed as lead consultants, designers and principal designers to deliver the refurbishment of a vacant local café from inception through to completion.
The Delves Kitchen Café is located in Thorne, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, beside a popular fishing pond and recreational area used by dog walkers and the local community.
Brief
The brief was to create a modern, open-plan café with a separate room available for meetings or social events, alongside externally accessed welfare facilities for public use.
The aim was to bring a disused café back to life and make better use of the available external amenity space, creating a bright and welcoming place for local people to visit.
Design Approach
A large corner curtain wall was introduced to open up views across The Delves ponds and bring more natural light into what had previously been a darker internal space.
This compact format keeps the written project story clear while allowing a small number of photographs to support the design narrative without being overstretched.
