Sustainability and Future Readiness

Sustainability formed the foundation of the project, creating a closed-loop renewable energy facility that transforms over 100,000 tonnes of food waste each year into renewable electricity, heat, biomethane and nutrient-rich biofertiliser.

The coordinated design provides a robust and adaptable industrial facility capable of supporting future operational improvements, technological upgrades and continued growth in sustainable waste processing.

Project Outcome

The Olleco Anaerobic Digestion Facility demonstrates the successful delivery of a highly coordinated renewable energy project through effective multidisciplinary collaboration and construction phase management.

Acting in a coordination and contract administration role, JHA Architecture worked alongside the client, contractor and wider consultant team to help deliver a complex industrial facility combining efficient waste processing, renewable energy generation and long-term operational resilience.

The completed development represents a significant investment in the UK’s circular economy, providing essential infrastructure for sustainable food waste management while supporting national carbon reduction and renewable energy objectives.
