JHA Architecture provided planning and construction-stage architectural services for the KFC drive-thru at Sisson Street, Failsworth.
Our involvement covered the development of the scheme through the planning process and the preparation and coordination of architectural information required for construction. The project combines KFC's strong customer-facing identity with a practical drive-thru layout, prominent glazing and a robust palette of external materials.
The completed restaurant occupies a highly visible position within the wider Failsworth centre, with the building and drive-thru route arranged to provide a clear presence for both passing traffic and customers arriving on site.

Planning & Construction
JHA Architecture's role extended from planning through to construction, allowing the architectural intent to be carried consistently from the approval stage into the information used to deliver the completed building.
At planning stage, the scheme required the restaurant, access, parking, drive-thru movement and external appearance to work together as a coherent commercial development. During construction, our focus moved to the technical coordination of the building envelope, openings, glazing, feature fascias, signage interfaces and other key external details.
This continuity helped maintain the clarity of the approved design while responding to the practical requirements of construction and KFC's operational format.
Project Outcome
The completed development delivers a strong KFC presence at Sisson Street, with the curved dark fascia, white cladding, red branding and extensive glazing giving the restaurant a distinctive identity from each approach.
The drive-thru route is clearly integrated around the building, while pedestrian access, customer entrances and service areas remain legible and practical. The result is a robust, highly visible drive-thru restaurant that balances brand requirements with the demands of a busy commercial site.
