Ridgewood School is in the ownership of Doncaster MBC and the commission to provide new accommodation to provide a 'state of the art' Engineering, Technology and Food Technology stand-alone block was received from Doncaster LEA in October 2003. It was intended that the additional facility would not be a replacement for the existing Art, Engineering, Technology and Food Technology Suite, but would allow for the expansion of the school's existing facilities and enable the school to deliver the curriculum in this area more effectively.
It was proposed that the new accommodation would be housed in a stand-alone building in a prominent location to the front of school. Accommodation was to provide for 2no. Food Technlogy Rooms, with assorted storage and laundry facilities, a food preparation room. design resource spaces, a heat bay, conference facilities, Computer Aided Design suite, offices, staff and toilet facilities. Designed to accommodate 135 pupils and 10 teaching staff the scheme was prepared to meet with the requirements of the school and LEA.
